Meet Brian

meet brian picG’day Tasmania. I’m Brian Carlton, host of the talk radio show for the state, Tasmania Talks.

I’ve been developing, producing and hosting news / talk radio shows for more than three decades and have covered every major national and international news story since 1990 on 2UE and 2GB.

You might also have heard my voice on the Triple M national network as The Spoonman, the first ever news talk show on Australian metropolitan FM radio.

So why am I here? It’s pretty simple really. I’ve had a life-long love affair with Tasmania since my first visit as an 8-year old when dad packed the family into a hire car to discover what I reckon is the greatest place on the planet.

About a decade ago I decided I wanted to live here and 3 years ago started discussions with Grant Broadcasters about how it could happen. During that time both my sisters, with respective husbands and kids, moved to Tassie. My parents then decided it was a great idea so they moved too and have never been happier. Could it be possible to do the work I love most – talk radio – and live in my version of paradise? Well, now it’s happened and I look forward to working hard to have your voice heard by the decision makers affecting your life.

I’m no fly-in-fly-out guy. I now live here in Northern Tasmania with you and plan to stay a proud Tasmanian ‘for the term of my natural life’. I’ve now got ‘skin in the game’, so the issues that affect you equally affect me.

I truly believe Tasmania is poised on the cusp of a magnificent future where our cooler climate, clean air, stunning scenery, wildlife and friendly people will become the envy of the world. Add cost of living factors and a newly growing economy being actively encouraged by both government and business investment and it’s hard to see anything but a rosy future for Tasmania.

Join me on Tasmania Talks between 9am and 12pm and we’ll take the journey together.
