A man infected with the coronavirus has died in Iran after a supposed Islamic medicine man gave him an alleged "miracle cure", according to Iranian state news agency IRNA.
The cleric illegally entered the Beheshti hospital in the port city of Anzali at the weekend and visited the patient in the intensive care unit, the report on Tuesday said.
The man reportedly told the relatively young coronavirus patient that doctors could no longer help him but he had an "Islamic miracle cure" that would cure him.
With consent from the patient, the cleric allegedly removed the patient's protective mask and rubbed his face with a perfumed liquid.
The patient died three days later, the agency reported.
Prosecutors in Anzali have issued an arrest warrant against the man.
So far, more than 23,000 people have been infected with the new coronavirus in Iran and more than 1800 people have died.
