Woman dies following fatal collision with truck

A 33 year old woman from Moonah has been killed this morning, following a head on crash between a truck and a car near Hobart's Botanical Gardens.

Tasmania police are still investigating the cause of the crash but say it appears the Toyota Sedan being driven by the Moonah woman has veered on to the wrong side of the road, into the path of a refrigerated rigid truck.

Sergeant Rod Carrick said the front end of both vehicles have impacted at the drivers side.

"Members of the public assisted emergency services personnel in attempts to resuscitate the woman driver however sadly she has died from her injuries," said Sergeant Carrick.

The 51 year old truck driver was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital and later released without injury.

Investigations continue.
