Police believe they've cracked a number of crimes in the state's south over the past week after a raid on a home in Bridgewater.

A 33 year old man has been arrested and will face a special sitting of court either tonight or early tomorrow.

Detective Inspector Craig Joel said he would be charged with breaking into a Kingston appliance store last night as well as a string of other offences.

"He's currently in custody and he's being interviewed by detectives, not only in relation to the Harvey Norman burglary but also several burglaries committed across southern Tasmania in the past few weeks," he said.

"A stolen Mercedes Benz car was recovered and as a consequence the man will be charged with being in possession of that stolen car along with other goods which were recovered by police from the Bridgewater property."
