The future of Ulverstone firearms dealer Tas Guns n Ammo is unclear after a police raid on the Victoria Street premises yesterday.

They've charged a 58-year-old man with dozens of offences, seizing a sizeable quantity of firearms.

More than 80 charges have been levelled including unlawful trafficking in firearms and possession of suppressors.

"The man was charged with 78 offences under the Firearms Act 1996 and he has been served summonses for these matters," said Inspector Shane LeFevre.

The more minor charges include 12 counts of possess unregistered firearm, 54 of failing to keep records in an approved form, and three counts of falsifying records.

Police suspended the man's dealers and firearms licences.

He's been bailed and will appear in Devonport Magistrates Court in late January.
