It's been a busy 24-hours for our emergency services in the state's south.

Police are investigating after a body was discovered on a street in Richmond early this morning.

Authorities have been on the scene at Colebrook Road since before 6am.

Colebrook Road, between Enfield Lane and Franklin Street remains closed to all traffic.

Meanwhile in a seperate incident, a child has been killed after a quad bike rollover on a rural property outside Hobart.

Paramedics were called to the address on Dixon Point Road at Sandford at around 2:30 yesterday afternoon and attempted to revive the 9-year-old at the scene.

It's understood the boy was wearing a full-face helmet but couldn't be saved.

It's the third ATV-related fatality in Tasmania this year.

Elsewhere, an elderly man is lucky to be alive after his boat overturned at Dolphin Sands.

Around 1:30pm yesterday, the 5 metre fibreglass boat got caught in the surf and flipped in Great Oyster Bay, throwing two men from the deck and trapping a third underneath.

The 72-year-old was trapped for half an hour before authorities broke through with a hand tool and pulled him to safety.

He was airlifted to hospital in a stable condition.
