Nearly five months on from a fatal hit and run on the Midland Highway north of Hobart, police are renewing calls for information, with a killer driver still at large.
30-year-old Claremont man Gary John Hayes was struck in a 110-kilometre-an-hour zone at Brighton early on New Years day.
Police believe a northbound truck or similar large vehicle was responsible, but the driver may not have been aware of the impact at the time.
The tragedy left Mr Hayes' wife without her husband and primary carer.
Southern Crash investigation Services is pursuing a number of lines of inquiry.
“This is a tragic event, and police want to identify the driver and vehicle involved so the victim’s family can have some closure,” Sergeant Luke Walker said.
