Ogilvie confirms tilt for Clark

There's reportedly dissent in Labor ranks over whether former MP Madeline Ogilvie should be allowed to run for the party for the state electorate of Clark.

The lawyer has confirmed she'll take on former broadcaster Tim Cox for the seat left vacant by the retiring Scott Bacon.

The Australian reports Labor's left faction will oppose Ms Ogilvie's return to the party.

A right-wing independent in Parliament would potentially boost the Hodgman Government's majority and undermine Speaker Sue Hickey's balance of power.

Ms Ogilvie is keeping her cards close to her chest on whether she'll return to Labor.

"If I happen to be the successful candidate...no doubt there are a number of important conversations that we'll need to have," she told social media.
