Mental As Anything singer Greedy Smith has died of a heart attack, aged 63.
Greedy was an original member of the Mentals which was currently on tour.
The Aussie band had a string of radio hits in the 80's such as If You Leave Me Can I Come Too, with the video clip to the song recorded in Hobart.
Their highest charting hit of all time was Live It Up in 1985, which also took off in Europe when it featured in blockbuster movie Crocodile Dundee.
Earlier this year, Greedy spoke of his excitement for the band's May gigs in Devonport, Launceston and Longley.
Tasmanian concert stage builder Ian Pirkis, who has a signed guitar by Greedy and band mate Martin Plaza, describes them as impeccable when playing live.
"Their live sound in any pub was very crafted, just sheer practice and skilled musicianship and that's what they represent, they will always be a much loved Australian pub band."
