A sailor is safe and well after getting into trouble in Georges Bay at St Helens last night.
Marine police received a concern for welfare call last night after the man didn't return from a boating trip.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the area and found the boat on the southern spit near Humbug Point around 3.30 this morning.
Tricky conditions at the time meant he couldn't be winched on board the chopper.
In the end the rising tide came to the rescue and the vessel returned safely to shore around 7am.
Boaters are reminded to ensure they have all safety equipment, including life jackets, and sufficient communication systems.
