State Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff has dropped into Hobart's Taroona High School to cheer on its $5 million redevelopment.
It has a massive student population of 1125 driven by families from out of area choosing the public school because of its good reputation.
Minister Rockliff described how the money is being spent.
"This is a contemporary music facility, there will be individual practice rooms, of course, student amenities, office space and so it is really providing state of the art facilities for a wonderful institution which is Taroona High School."
Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark, is one of the school's former students.
