West coasters have six weeks to comment on new designs for a 35-kilometre network of mountain bike trails slated for Queenstown's Mount Owen, after the West Coast Council launched the design this morning.
It's hoped construction will commence in about 8 months time once it's through the planning and tender stages.
Designer Rob Potter says the trail starts in the middle of town.
"Up onto Mount Owen, you've got the opportunity of riding a number of different loop rides, or else the current concept has you catching a shuttle bus to the top of Mount Owen and descending back down to town, so there's quite a few different riding options within that network."
The development is an exciting prospect for riders in the local area, and hopes to draw crowds from across the country.
