A Launceston P-plater is set to face court after being caught driving at 145 kilometres per hour on the East Tamar Highway.

Police intercepted the 18-year-old female at the wheel of a grey SUV at about 9:30 on Saturday night, travelling 55km/h over her permitted speed as a first-year provisional licence holder.

The vehicle has been clamped for 28 days.

“It’s disheartening that some drivers continue to disregard the road rules and police road safety messages, putting their lives and the lives of others at risk through high range speeding”, Senior Constable Rob Shepherd said.
