Gruesome details of the murder of a young Gagebrook father have been heard in Hobart's Supreme Court.
The body of Jarrod Leigh Turner was discovered on a road near Richmond last April, having been shot in the head at close range by his former friend and housemate.
Shannon James Duffy was arrested days later in Fingal but it wasn't until February that he confessed to the killing.
Crown prosecutor Linda Mason SC has told court Duffy decided to murder the 22-year-old believing he was involved in an arson incident and believing he had allegedly made inappropriate advances on an underage girl.
The pair went drinking together at Five Mile Beach before Duffy drew a shotgun and killed Mr Turner who was urinating on the side of Colebrook Road.
The 31-year-old offender is due back in court on July 23rd, likely to be sentenced next month.
