A state-of-the-art medium tanker has been unveiled for the Tasmania Fire Service station at Tea Tree in Hobart's outskirts.

It's the seventh of 30 new fire trucks being rolled out under the state government's $6 million replacement program.

"This new appliance they're getting today will be able to seat five people - their previous vehicle could only safely fit two so it makes a big difference for those guys. This vehicle is purpose built here in Tasmania, it'll suit the needs of this brigade, increase their capability and allow us to better deliver services to the community," Acting Regional Chief South Dale Rayner said.

"The state-of-the-art trucks can be used in both urban (structure fire) and bush settings with safety features including radiant heat shields, personal protective fire blankets, in-cab pump operations, roof-mounted halo water spray system and GPS locater systems," Emergency Management Minister Mark Shelton said.
