Beacon saves the day, again

A distress beacon and satellite phone last night (Sunday) played their part in helping an injured bushwalker in Tasmania's North West.

Today (Monday) the Rescue Chopper flew in to pick up the 25 year Victorian man who was unable to walk with a knee injury in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.

The man, who was in a guided walking group, has been transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Police have made special mention of how personal locator beacons, costing as little as $300, save lives.
