An investigation is underway into a series of burglaries at businesses in the Launceston area in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Four offenders forced entry into Riverside's Liquor Stax bottle shop at about midnight, stealing supplies and fleeing in a blue BMW X5 wagon which had been stolen from Beauty Point the previous night.

The quartet hit the 9/11 bottle shop at Newstead half an hour later making off with more alcohol, then stole petrol from the Coles Express service station on Hoblers Bridge Rd.

At around 1:30 cigarettes were taken from the Kings Meadows newsagency by the same group.

The vehicle has been found burnt out on Lilydale Road at Underwood, but the offenders are yet to be found.

"On each occasion, they used implements to either smash open or force open security doors and smash through windows to gain entry to all of the businesses," Detective Acting Inspector Clark said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
