The Tasmanian Government is hosing down reports the state is on the shortlist to quarantine returning international students on behalf of NSW.
Amidst concerns lucrative international enrolments are dipping as students head to the UK and Canada instead, NSW has been looking for a way to get around the international arrivals cap.
NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet has revealed he's been in extensive discussions with the Tasmanian Government about having overseas arrivals quarantined in Hobart.
However, while the Tasmanian Government has confirmed the approach, there has apparently been a lukewarm reaction to the idea.
"We received an approach from the NSW government, however Tasmania’s priority remains safely managing seasonal workers entering the State and our own international students when it is considered safe to do so," said a Tasmanian Government spokesperson.
