West Coast fatality avoidable, police believe

Police local

Police will prepare a report for the coroner after a fatal smash on the West Coast.

A 25-year-old local man died after his white Land Cruiser left Zeehan's main street and hit a brick wall.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around half past midnight on Saturday.

While investigations are still ongoing, police believe it could have been avoided.

“This is another avoidable tragedy and police are pleading for the motoring public to consider the ramifications of reckless driving behaviour on our roads," said Inspector Shane LeFevre.

"Any person who may have seen the white 2018 Toyota Landcruiser travelling in the Zeehan area in the hours prior to the crash is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
