Authorities in the state's north have charged a 23-year-old man on a string of child abuse material offences.
The arrest was made on Thursday following a protracted investigation by Tasmania Police’s High Risk Child Exploitation Unit.
The male is accused of 11 counts of "involving a person under 18 years in the production of child exploitation material" and one count of "possessing child exploitation material".
It's believed over the course of almost two years, the alleged offender had contacted minors across Australia and in the United States and coerced them to produce abuse material in the form of images and video of themselves, before sending it to him.
The man has been granted bail under strict conditions and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on June 2nd.
