A pause on flights from India into Australia is to expire on May 15th as planned, with a reliance on Victoria to repatriate Tasmania's share of Aussies trying to get home from the covid ravaged country.
Making an appearance after today's national cabinet meeting, Premier Gutwein has outlined how this state will keep pulling its weight in the process.
"The best way that we can do that is by continuing our partnership with Victoria which sees Tasmania quarantine seasonal workers from lower risk international locations, primarily the Pacific Islands on behalf of Victoria in return for Victoria quarantining our share of repatriated Australians from other international destinations."
So far, Tasmania's quarantined 1225 seasonal workers for farm jobs both here and in Victoria.
At around 1am Saturday (tomorrow) another 159 seasonal workers from Vanuatu will arrive and be quarantined in Hobart's Ibis Hotel.
