The Events Minister has used the Hobart waterfront and the backdrop of the Lady Nelson to promote the government's follow through of a $21.5 million dollar funding promise for key state events, such as the Wooden Boat Festival.
Others to share in the money are Dark Mofo (pictured), Mona Foma, Launceston's Festivale, Targa Tasmania and the Junction Arts Festival.
Minister Sarah Courtney estimates their combined stimulus at around $170 million.
"We've seen through these iconic events in previous years almost 40,000 people come to our state, when visitors come they stay at our hotels, they eat and drink at our establishments and it is a great way to drive visitation around regional areas of Tasmania."
Negotiations are underway with the respective organisers, complemented by an $8 million events support and attraction fund.
