Mountain biking the key to rebuilding a struggling town

Mountain bike riding doesn't seem like the key to rebuilding a town, but that's exactly the case for Derby.

Realising the potential approximately four and a half years ago, the Dorset Council actively looked to fund facilities and tracks to turn Derby into a mountain bike riding hub.

Live from Derby, Brian Carlton speaks to Dorset Council Mayor Greg Howard and General Manager Tim Watson about the steps they've taken to make Derby suitable for an event of this size, and the potential for further expansion.

"The vision would be [to] create this into probably the premiere destination [for mountain bike riding] in the world," Mr Watson says.
