1583 new cases, 22 in hospital

With a mixture of PCR and RAT results, Tasmania has recorded another 1,583 new covid infections in the 24 hours to 8pm on January 11.

One of those is State Health Commander Kathrine Morgan-Wicks, who confirmed late yesterday she had tested positive on a PCR test.

2,699 PCR tests were processed in the lab - 736 positive results returned.

847 rapid antigen test results were also reported to the government. 10,464 tests were given out in the public system.

There are now 8,764 active covid cases across the state.

There are 1,919 cases active in the North, 5,347 in the South and 909 in the North West.

In the 24 hour period, 731 people were released from isolation.
