Eating out, clothing, footwear, personal accessories, and food have all been stronger in April in new ABS retail data.

Australia's retail turnover lifted 0.9% on the previous month, while it was an even better result for Tasmania, up by 2%.

Only WA had more retail growth for the month.

Areas of retail weakness in Australia include department stores where turnover shunk by 2.5%.
