With the Launceston show taking place tomorrow, Tasmania Talks listener David from Devonport called in to reminisce about how he earned himself some spending money for the show when he was a kid.
David explains to Brian Carlton how he and his friends would collect empty Coca Cola bottles and return them to the local store to be reimbursed - 10c for a small bottle and 20c for a large one.
David’s call sparks further conversations with Tasmania Talks listeners about this old fashioned take on a container deposit scheme, and why it is no longer in place.
Brian also takes a trip down memory lane, remembering the ‘cordial man’ who would deliver carbonated beverages directly to your home.
Do you remember this?
