The future of the RSPCA is once again in doubt, after the Launceston City Council revealed this morning that the tender for Dog Pound and Shelter services in Northern Tasmania has been given to the Dogs Home of Tasmania.

The tender came about after the RSPCA revealed in August their financial struggles, and would have had to close if not for a grant from the State Government.

Mayor of Launceston City Council, Albert Van Zetten, joins Fairsy on Tasmania Talks this morning to talk about the decision. Mayor Van Zetten says that the Dogs Home Tasmania will be taking over the current RSPCA shelter site at Mowbray at the end of December.
