A joint survey by the Burnie Chamber of Commerce, Central Coast Chamber of Commerce and Devonport Chamber of Commerce has found that an increase to wages may negatively affect small businesses on the North-West Coast.

One of Labor’s signature policies this election has been to turn the current minimum wage into a ‘living wage'. The Small Business Survey 2019 found that if this policy is legislated, several businesses will have to cut staff or cut work hours.

Dane Layton, President of the Devonport Chamber of Commerce, talks to Brian Carlton this morning about the findings of the survey and just how much these policies will impact small businesses in Tasmania.
