Tasmanian Men’s Sheds are reportedly being encouraged to have 30% female membership in their sheds.
This has come from a Government blanket policy, which says that all peak bodies should have 30% membership of the opposite sex.
It is allegedly also implied that Men’s Sheds will be more likely to receive government grants if they have this 30% female membership.
Keith Haines, Chairman of the Port Sorell Men’s Shed, speaks to Brian Carlton this morning to share his personal views on these concerning changes.
Tasmania Talks listeners and Men’s Shed members also weigh in on this issue, saying that Men’s Sheds need to be left to men.
