All nine National Basketball League teams will play in Tasmania from September, in the pre-season NBL Blitz.

The major announcement was made yesterday by Sports Minister Jeremy Rockliff, Hungry Jack’s NBL Owner and Executive Chairman Larry Kestelman, and NBL legend Andrew Gaze. The announcement also included the commitment to a Tasmanian NBL team within the next two years.

The Southern Huskies, now playing in the New Zealand NBL, were initially created to be Tasmania’s NBL team. Assistant Coach of the Southern Huskies, Brett Smith, joins Rick Fontyn in the studio to discuss what this announcement means for Tasmanian basketball and the Southern Huskies.
