St Paul’s church in East Devonport has survived a potentially devastating fire, 20 years after it was almost destroyed.
The Tasmania Fire Service attended the property around 4pm yesterday, where the fire had burned into the roofspace of the church. TFS members had to remove roofing iron to extinguish the blaze, and it’s estimated that the fire has caused $200,000 damage.
Mayor of Devonport City Council, Annette Rockliff, talks to Rick Fontyn about the tragic church fire. They also discuss the sale of Murray Street land in Devonport, which has cost taxpayers $100,000.
