The Acting Secretary of the United Firefighters Union of Australia Tasmanian (UFU) branch says that land clearing in World Heritage Areas (WHA’s) would have been useful prior to bushfire season.

A report tabled in State Parliament last week looked at the 18-19 bushfire season, and gave several recommendations on how to improve Tasmania’s capacity to fight extensive bushfires.

Leigh Hills talks to Brian Carlton about some of findings of the report, stating that land clearing in accessible WHA’s may have been useful, and that there is a need for reserve remote firefighters.
