Teen Challenge Tasmania have won their appeal to use the old Meander Primary School as a rehabilitation centre.

Teen Challenge Tasmania initially applied to run a rehab centre for women and children out of the school three years ago. However due to community backlash and several appeals against the project, the rehab centre had been no closer to getting underway.

A decision by the The Resource Management and Planning Appeal Tribunal recently decided in favour of Teen Challenge Tasmania using the school for this purpose, although this decision can also be appealed.

Tanya Cavanagh, Executive Director of Teen Challenge Tasmania, talks to Brian Carlton this morning about the decision and some of the lingering concerns regarding the project.
