The DPFEM Crime Statistics Supplement 2018-19 has revealed a 6% increase in crime across Tasmania over the last financial year.

However, the Police Association of Tasmania claims this isn’t an accurate picture of our state’s crime numbers.

President of the Police Association of Tasmania, Colin Riley, says the state is broken down into three geographical regions, The South, the West, and the North. While the West of the state has seen a 6% increase, the South has experienced a 5% decrease, which due to its size, has all but hidden the 23% increase in the Northern Region.

Listen as President Riley joins Brian Carlton to discuss these figures, calling for the State Government to release the region specific statistics, and provide Launceston and the North with more resources.
