Senator Chandler talks minimum mandatory sentences for sex offenders + increased penalties for farm invaders

Two new pieces of legislation are being introduced by the Morrison Government which are designed to increase penalties for sex offenders and farm invaders.

More than 28% of sex offenders convicted in 2018-19 under federal laws did not spend one night in jail, the new bill will ensure that jail time becomes the starting point for all charges.

The second bill will increase penalties on farm invaders/animal activists, some of who may be trespassing and causing damage to farm property.
Claire Chandler, Liberal Senator for Tasmania, joins Brian Carlton to discuss these two new pieces of legislation.
