Tasmanian motorsport ace Alex Peroni says he was ‘very lucky’ to walk away with just a broken vertebra, after a horror Formula 3 crash at the Italian Grand Prix.
Footage shows the 19-year-old driver’s Dallara single-seater fly through the air, landing upside-down on a trackside tyre barrier.
Back home in Hobart recovering, Alex joins Rick Fontyn to discuss the incident.
Listen as Alex tells Rick that the toughest part of his recovery has been coming to terms with the fact that his season is over, with medical experts estimating a three-month recovery time.
Alex’s dad, Piero Peroni, also joins Rick to discuss the accident from his point of view, sharing details of an upcoming fundraiser to get Alex back on track.
