Nearly 50 Tasmanian career and volunteer firefighters have made their way to NSW to assist with the catastrophic fire conditions currently threatening the state.
Tasmania Fire Service is looking to send an additional two strike teams, made up of 40 Tasmanians, into Queensland over the coming days as well.
Ian Bounds, Tasmania Fire Service Northern Regional Chief, who has just returned from NSW himself, says fire crews are doing all they can, and it’s now up to nature to ‘give us a hand’.
Listen as Ian joins Martin Agatyn to discuss the fires, which he claims are unprecedented this early in the season.
Ian also warns Tasmanians not to become complacent, stating just one bad day could see our state in similar circumstances.
