Premier Peter Gutwein announced yesterday that stage two of easing COVID-19 restrictions will be brought forward to 3pm this Friday 5th June, ahead of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

Tasmanians will be able to travel throughout the state, with camping, accommodation, and shack visits to resume.

A number of Tasmanian businesses will also be able to reopen or increase current services, including beauty services, cafes and restaurants, and gyms.

Listen as Robert Mallet, Executive Officer of the Tasmanian Small Business Council, joins Aaron Stevens to discuss the impact the easing of restrictions will have on Tassie businesses, and whether they’ll be ready in time for this weekend.

Steve Old, CEO of the Tasmanian Hospitality Association, speaks with Aaron about the increased capacity for cafes, restaurants, and bars, and the positive impact this will have for hospitality workers.

And, Luke Martin, CEO of the Tourism Industry Council, says it’s good to see a ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ for tourism operators.
