The Tasmanian Greens yesterday responded to the 2020-21 State Budget in Parliament, focusing on tackling COVID-19 and the climate change emergency.
The Alternative Budget also calls for the Ashley Youth Detention Centre to be shut down, with investments into therapeutic youth justice as a replacement.
“Ashley Detention Centre is a failed model, it is letting those kids down, [and] it’s too often a one way ticket to Risdon Prison,” Greens Leader Cassy O’Connor says.
Listen as Cassy O’Connor joins Aaron Stevens on Tasmania Talks to detail the Alternative Budget, also sharing why she believes the Government needs a designated Employment Minister to help the Tasmanian workforce.
