Last month, Tasmania Talks heard from numerous Leith residents concerned about letters sent to multiple households stating their properties were to be compulsorily acquired by the State Government to make way for an overpass across the Bass Highway.
Residents were disappointed by the lack of community consultation from the Government before the letters were sent, and a petition opposing the development has garnered almost 3,000 signatures so far.

The Liberal Government provided a statement to Tasmania Talks advising there will be no final decision made until proper community consultation has taken place.
