The owner of the Green Bean Café in Launceston has spoken on Tasmania Talks numerous times over the past few weeks, promoting the café’s ‘feeding the homeless’ program which takes place every Wednesday night.
However, the program has now been suspended for the next few weeks after an altercation at the café late yesterday morning left Paul, the owner, with broken ribs and a fractured cheek.
A man, believed to be homeless, who had reportedly been lingering in the atrium of the café’s building, allegedly attacked Paul with a fire extinguisher, discharging the contents of the extinguisher in Paul’s face, hitting him in head, and kicking him in the ribs.
Listen as Paul recounts the terrifying ordeal to Mike O’Loughlin on Tasmania Talks, stating he will need to find a new location for the ‘feeding the homeless’ program to continue in the future.
