Yolla farmer’s potatoes rejected by supermarket because they don’t ‘wash clean’

Tags: agriculture North West

A Yolla farmer has been left with 50 tonnes of potatoes that won’t be accepted by major supermarkets, because they won’t ‘wash clean.

Brett Neal delivered a bag of Nicola potatoes to Brian Carlton last week, which cooked up beautifully. Brett says that because of a few brown spots and skin blemishes on the same potatoes, they have been rejected.

Brett joins Brian this morning to talk about the potatoes, and the issues with supermarkets not accepting ‘imperfect’ produce.

If you would like to contact Brett about buying some of these potatoes, please call him on 0407 741 155.
