Minister for State Development, Construction and Housing, Michael Ferguson, says the State and Federal Government’s HomeBuilder grants have been an “outstanding success” overall, despite one young couple having their contract cancelled due to delays with grant funds.

Launceston local Brittany Goss and her partner Bradley were left devastated last month when the contract for the property they’d been building for the past year was cancelled by the vendor.

A week before the young couple was due to move into their dream home, the vendor cancelled their contract as the $45,000 in approved government grants weren’t yet where they needed to be.

Speaking on Tasmania Talks with Mike O’Loughlin, Housing Minister Michael Ferguson put the call out to the developer responsible for the property, who hasn't been returning the Minister's calls, asking them to “do the right thing and honour the contract” for Brittany and her partner.
